DEVOPS ENGINEER

Employment type: Full-time

Location: 100% Remote but must be located in the areas of Greater Boston. Greater New York City, or Greater Los Angeles

Role Overview

This role supports our application platforms and teams, as well as our cloud footprint

more generally. Approximately 50/50 split between the internal SaaS platform and

other internal and client-facing applications. All environments use similar infrastructure

patterns (AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes), and work will shift between them based on

team need.

Responsibilities

Deploy and maintain applications on EKS, including ArgoCD-based deployment workflows and integration with AWS Secrets Manager and the Kubernetes External Secrets operator.

Build and maintain reusable Terraform modules and Terraform/Terragrunt code for all cloud resources.

Help manage our multi-account, multi-region, multi-cloud environment (primarily AWS with some Azure and GCP) to conform with operational requirements, security policies, and cost controls.

Build and operate release pipelines, including environment promotion, rollback, and deployment metrics.

Establish and maintain logging, metrics, and alerting baselines on CloudWatch, with dashboards and runbooks for both platforms.

Assist developers in designing and implementing new application capabilities and features when those features have platform or infrastructure dependencies.

Write and maintain documentation for supported infrastructure and explain technical tradeoffs to engineering, product, and other stakeholders.

Consult with and support project teams and developers building bespoke applications or tools for deployment in varied client environments.

Qualifications

Required:

6+ years of professional experience in platform, cloud, or DevOps engineering.

Strong understanding of Kubernetes cluster management and configuration in general, as well as AWS EKS specifics such as VPC-CNI, pod identity, and Karpenter.

AWS expertise generally, including networking, S3, RDS, and IAM, across multiple accounts and regions.

Strong Terraform skills, with experience designing reusable modules and service blueprints. Ideally also familiarity with Terragrunt, including the use of modules, units, and stacks.

CI/CD pipeline expertise, with GitHub Actions, Docker and Kubernetes.

Observability experience with CloudWatch, logging, metrics, and alert routing, as well as practical understanding of Prometheus and Grafana within a Kubernetes cluster.

Fluency with standard DevOps tooling and languages (e.g., Bash scripting, YAML manifests, etc.)

Ability to write clear documentation and explain technical tradeoffs to non- engineering stakeholders.

Nice to have:

PostgreSQL/PostGIS or other geospatial data experience.

Experience with data orchestration (MWAA, Airflow, or similar) and production-grade ETL patterns.

Large-scale or distributed batch compute experience (AWS Batch, Glue, EMR, ECS/Fargate, EKS, or Databricks).

Experience with agentic workflows, MCP-style services, RAG, or other LLM application infrastructure.

Working knowledge of FinOps fundamentals: tagging, showback, and budgets.
